Join me for a very special Creative workshop at the simply stunning Pomalo, Tunbridge Wells….

The date: Saturday May 13. Springtime!🌸

Following the success of my Metallics Masterclass workshop in Hastings, I’m soooo excited to host at Pomalo, the most idyllic creative events destination imaginable!

Learn the art of distressed gilding and metallic foiling techniques on a variety of thrifted items, including picture frames, ceramics, ornaments and lamp bases.

I’ll work with you to prep, paint and metamorphosise your very own vintage home accessories using my curated collection of Metallic Skinz… which you can take home at the end of the day. Or bring your own items to work on.

Suitable for enthusiastic, hands-on beginners and/or those of you who are already keen up-cyclers, this is a day of relaxation, warmth and inclusiveness.

This special day is at the inspiring Pomalo, Pembury Hall, a rural idyll in the Kent countryside just 40 minutes from London.

Guests will be treated to a delicious seasonal organic buffet from Pomalo founder, Andrea Hilgers, an accomplished cordon bleu / Leiths trained cook 🤩

Kitchen revamp!!! I used @bedecproducts on the cabinets, and my own metallic skinz to transform the tiles and cabinet handles.

Spicy budget kitchen transformation 🔥🤩💪🏾💪🏾 Swipe for the before ⬅️

So I wanted to wait a few months before I showed you my kitchen revamp, just because I needed to be sure the materials would hold up to daily use. They do!!

There may be those who prefer the white tiles & units, but I promise you, in the flesh they looked cheap, nasty, dated & totally out of keeping with the rest of the house 😩

I’ll post more about process in the coming weeks, as I know many of you crafty guys n gals love to know what paints and other materials gave me the most bang for my bucks…😉

I painted the cabinets in a custom mix (by me) of Bedec Anthracite & Black satin. So far, 3 months in, and no scratches 👍🏿

I used my own Metallic Skinz to transform the tiles (Burnished Copper) and “new” handles purchased on eBay with Aged Gold.

I promise to show you exactly how I prepped, applied and sealed the foiled surfaces in a future post!!

The copper splash back I bought online from a trade manufacturer.

The Aztec indoor / outdoor rug is from @benuta.co.uk

The raffia lamp shade is @dunelmuk with an added jute fringe from @etsyuk

The spicy red storage jars are mostly mid German vintage vases sourced from Facebook market place & @renewgreatermanchester chazza shops. I just got some cork lids for them online.

The whole lot cost more time than money….! I think my final spend was around £350.

Who likes spicy yellow?!! Welcome to Archie’s newly decorated bedroom!

I must say, he loves his refreshed boudoir, which is quite a grown up space, really, for my darling boy! When he turned 21 in January, I knew it was time.

I also wanted it to double as a guest room for blended family members, of which there are several.

The wall colour is so warming in this rather dark, north facing room. It’s @zoffanyfw Tigers Eye, if you’re interested.

The decorative cane bedhead was a gift from my dear friend, sheepster guru @kasbahkate 🫶🏽🤩

The Golden Orient duvet set is from the fantabulous @avalana_design who I paid in glamcycling duties for her recent studio set design @renewgreatermanchester

No actual real money exchanged hands, but our medieval / feudal style exchange of services was rather brilliant I thought!! Definitely the way forward?

Which brings me to the bedside tabes….well, that’s for another post!!! I transformed them using some rather unconventional (for me) materials. More to follow!!!! 👍🏿🤩🤩

When I’m not working on commissions or running my own small workshops, I sometimes get asked to host activities for businesses looking to engage their employees with crafty upcycling pursuits!

Business representatives from all over greater Manchester were welcomed here today, from sectors including law, construction, social housing and recruitment.

What a privilege to share my passion for tarting up thrifted ceramics with the business community, and hopefully offer them a fun, mindful creative afternoon away from their day jobs.
